Small food plots, field edges and tight spots do not always call for a tractor. The Smucker 5 ft ATV weed wiper is a compact, pump-fed wiper that connects to the tool rack on your four-wheeler using the U-bolts provided in the kit. It lets you wipe herbicide onto weeds that stand above your plot or pasture without spraying everything underneath.
What an ATV weed wiper does
A weed wiper carries herbicide to sponges mounted on a bar. As you drive, the sponges brush the tops of plants tall enough to reach them. Set the bar above your clover, chicory or grass, and only the taller weeds get treated. Because nothing is sprayed into the air, a wiper is a common tool for selective weed control in food plots and pastures. Always follow the herbicide label, including any directions for wiper or wick application.
Key features of the 5 ft ATV-mount wiper (Part # WWTCATV5)
- 5 ft working width on a 5' ATV bracket, a size that suits smaller plots and trails.
- Two 30" sponge assemblies fed by an assembled manifold for 5' (with tubing).
- Tool rack mounting with four U-bolts (5/16-18 x 2 x 3-11/16) and four 33" mounting brackets.
- Quick disconnect and filter assembly for connecting your pump.
- Three T riser assemblies, four mounting bracket tabs, hose clamps, nylon ties and the bolts, nuts and lock washers for assembly.
Pump requirements: no sprayer in the box
Keep in mind that the sprayer is not included with this wiper. Smucker recommends a pump of 1 GPM or larger for the 5 ft ATV model, and notes that a 2.4 GPM Fimco pump would work great. Many ATV owners already have a small rack-mounted sprayer; check its flow rating and connect it through the included quick disconnect and filter assembly.
Mounting it on your ATV
Most utility ATVs have a front or rear tool rack, and the included U-bolts clamp the wiper's mounting brackets to that rack. Some ATV models, including certain Polaris models, do not have a front tool bar to easily strap the wiper to. The product photos show one way you may choose to attach the wiper in that case. If you are unsure how it will fit your machine, reach out before ordering.
- Set the sponge height above your desirable plants and below the weed heads.
- Prime both sponges so they are evenly wet before the first pass.
- Drive slowly and steadily. A second pass in the opposite direction helps on thick weeds.
- Clean the system after each use as directed on the herbicide label.

Who the 5 ft ATV model is for
This size suits hunters with small kill plots, landowners treating field borders and anyone who wants a light wiper they can take down trails and through gates. If you want twice the coverage on your four-wheeler, the Smucker 10 ft ATV weed wiper uses the same tool rack mounting approach with four sponges. If you drive a side-by-side, the 5 ft UTV bumper-mount wiper is the same width built for a UTV bumper.
