IMPACT IMPLEMENTS™ Cultivator with Spring Steel Tines

ATV Cultivator for Food Plots & Gardens: Impact Implements Guide

Once ground has been broken, you still need to loosen and furrow it before planting. That is the job of an ATV cultivator. The Impact Implements Cultivator with Spring Steel Tines is built for secondary tillage on ATVs, UTVs and small tractors, around the farm, in the garden and in food plots.

What the Impact Implements cultivator is

Designed in America's heartland, this cultivator (SKU IP4420_BK) uses six adjustable spring steel tines with beveled edges. The tines cut through prepped soil, do not bend or warp, and leave deep furrows for seeding. Cultivator teeth work near the surface, unlike chisel plow shanks that work deep below it, so the cultivator is a finishing and seed bed tool rather than a primary breaking tool.

That makes it a good second step after discing or plowing. It loosens the top layer, knocks out small weeds that have sprouted since the last pass, and leaves furrows that help catch seed and moisture. In a garden, it can also be run between rows to work the soil during the season.

Using an ATV cultivator in food plots and gardens

A simple plan for a small plot or garden:

  • Test and lime. A soil test tells you how much lime and fertilizer your ground needs; lime takes time to work, so apply it early.
  • Break ground. Use the Impact Implements disc plow / harrow to cut through sod and chop weeds and crop residue.
  • Cultivate. Run the cultivator to loosen the top layer and cut furrows. Adjust the tines for spacing and depth to suit the job.
  • Plant and pack. Broadcast seed, then roll it with the Impact Implements cultipacker for good seed-to-soil contact.

For fall deer plots, blends like Tecomate Greenfield and Tecomate King Ladino White Clover are good places to start. Each seed's page lists its own planting window, depth and seeding rate. Browse more in our food plot seed collection.

Care tips

  • Clear rocks and roots where you can; hard obstacles wear cutting edges faster.
  • Replace worn tines individually as needed.
  • Store the cultivator dry between seasons.
  • Check that the mounting pin and tine hardware are tight before each use.
  • Avoid working soil that is too wet; it tends to clump and stick to the tines instead of crumbling.
